For the most of the Octovine participation achievements, the meta does not need to succeed for these to be awarded. Only Saving the City of Gold requires it to be successful to be obtained. If the Where Exalted Dare achievement is unlocked you can complete it by interacting with the unmarked glowing pile of remains a few steps due south of the Vinetooth Den POI marker. The Remains at the entrance to the cave do not complete the achievement.
