The Awakened Commander spawns right behind the Forged Gate that marks the entrance to the foundry and needs to be revived at the start of the event. The cannonades event does not have to succeed in order for the meta to progress. The Forged Commander event will spawn regardless of the success or failure of the previous event. You may only receive one Domain of Vabbi: Hero's Choice Chest per day, either from this or from Serpents' Ire, but not both.
