Upon map instance creation or shortly after a previous ambush event is triggered, one of the six areas will be randomly selected for the next ambush event if possible. When a player enters the selected area they will be dismounted, receive the crippled condition and the event will start. It is possible for another location to be selected while a previous ambush is ongoing, therefore multiple ambushes events can be active simultaneously. If an ambush event occurs in an area, the area can not be selected again for some time.

This cripple applied to the player when triggering this effect, does not put the player into combat, although it will keep they player in if they where prior to triggering the ambush. Therefore, it is possible to immediately re-mount and evade all attacks after triggering the ambush. The next ambush area may be selected and subsequently triggered in as few as 20 seconds after an ambush is triggered.
