Usage

Amalgam basics

  • Engineers with the Amalgam Amalgam elite specialization lose access to most of their regular toolbelt skills. Amalgam toolbelt slots are fully customizable with their own set of skills, acting like a second utility bar.

    • Your healing skill is exempt from this rule, as it retains its regular toolbelt skill.
    • The elite toolbelt slot is always 进化 图标进化, but you get to customize this skill through traits.
  • Much of the specialization revolves around 进化 图标进化. Your selection of toolbelt skills directly impacts Evolve, as Evolve gains bonuses on activation based on what toolbelt skills you're running.

General

  • Cooldown reductions are a key part of the build, so are CC skills:

    • Dodging reduces the CD of your elite, 流体状态 图标流体状态 by 3 seconds and your toolbelt skills by 1 second.
    • CC'ing targets reduces the CD of 进化 图标进化.
    • Dodging gives you 敏捷 图标敏捷 via the relic for general CD reduction.
  • Because you're so good at recovering the CD of your elite and Evolve, you're incentivized to use them early in fights, otherwise the CD reductions go to waste.

  • 进化 图标进化 is always useful as it can be used for both defense and offense. On this build Evolve grants a passive stat boost, 敏捷 图标敏捷 for CD recovery, stuns nearby enemies and heals you.

  • Swap kits if you need 迅捷 图标迅捷 when roaming between capture points, 快捷工具 图标快捷工具 is your only real mobility tool.

Shortbow

  • Shortbow's main mechanic is chain reaction. Skills 2-5 can act as both chain starters and chain finisher, depending on how you sequence them.

  • When you use any of skills 2-5, it becomes a chain starter. Then you have a window of 4 seconds where the next skill you use will be a chain finisher, that triggers a bonus effect based on the chain starter. After that, your next skill will once again be a chain starter.

    • If you don't use a chain finisher in the 4 second window, your next skill will once again be a chain starter.
  • Basically you want chain starters to be the skills with the strongest bonus effects. There's a good argument for any of skills 3-5:

    • 影流精华 图标影流精华 is perhaps the strongest candidate for a chain starter, because of the extra cleansing.
    • 液怒精华 图标液怒精华 is decent, especially against Power builds because of the extra protection. It also creates a combo field, which makes it an ideal chain starter for a different reason.
    • 苟且精华 图标苟且精华 causes your chain finisher to CC enemies. This is strong, but you need to be careful with the timing - the initial impact stuns targets, and you can override that with a daze that happens as a result of using chain finishers with this as chain starter.
  • 流沙精华 图标流沙精华 is your best candidate for a chain finisher. Its chain starter effect is the weakest of the 4, plus it's a Blast finisher, which makes it even better as a followup to other skills that put down combo fields.

    • 苟且精华 图标苟且精华 could also be a good candidate for a chain finisher. Partly because it's a Blast finisher, but also because the chain reaction of this skill can sometimes override a stronger CC from the initial cast.

Damage

  • There are no outstanding burst options on this Amalgam build, but every kit and weapon has at least decent damage.

  • Every CC skill grants 急速 图标急速 and 稳固 图标稳固 via traits.

  • Both kits can place Fire fields: 爆燃烈焰 图标爆燃烈焰 on Bomb Kit and 燃烧弹 图标燃烧弹 on Flamethrower. Blasting these fields grants 威能 图标威能.

    • You should use these first when swapping to these kits so your Blast finishers don't go to waste.
  • Bomb Kit's 燃烧弹 图标燃烧弹 does significant damage over a couple of seconds while 电流弹 图标电流弹 is the most damage you can do in a single hit. The other 2 skills do negligible damage but offer CC.

  • On Flamethrower 爆燃烈焰 图标爆燃烈焰 is a good opener not just because it's a Fire field, but also because it provides 急速 图标急速.

    • Following up with 烈焰爆弹 图标烈焰爆弹 in the field + 凝固汽油 图标凝固汽油 in this order will give you Might while the Quickness covers Napalm, the hardest hitting skill on the set.
  • 烈焰喷射 图标烈焰喷射 is only really worth using with Quickness. A big niche of this skill is that it can hit through obstacles, allowing you to pressure enemies on the other side of pillars and walls.

Sustain

  • Your healing skill 分裂状态 图标分裂状态 heals more if you have barrier - every toolbelt skill grants barrier, it's recommended that you use them for extra healing.

  • Condition cleansing is decent but not the best, which is why C型试剂 图标C型试剂 is taken. It's a low CD mass cleanse that even converts conditions into boons.

    • 防护协议:净化 图标防护协议:净化 and 影流精华 图标影流精华 can help with mitigating condition pressure a bit before having to use Elixir C.
    • Your healing skill 分裂状态 图标分裂状态 cleanses 3 conditions via Alchemy trait procs.
    • Otherwise you're just going to have to power through them with healing and barrier spam.
  • CC skills remain instrumental here too. If you can keep your opponent stunlocked, you're making it a lot harder for them to pressure you.

    • Any successful CC you land also gives you 稳固 图标稳固 and 急速 图标急速.
    • Bomb kit has 3 CC skills, make sure you spread them out. Spamming them in rapid succession can cause the CCs to override each other!
  • There are 2 stunbreaks in the build: 防护协议:净化 图标防护协议:净化 and 防护协议:荆棘 图标防护协议:荆棘:

    • Both of these are medium CD toolbelt skills.
    • In condition matchups use Thorns first, so you can keep the other for emergency condi removal.

Decap

  • The build has minor decap potential, meaning you can win fights even without killing your opponents, as you can just keep pushing them off the capture point to neutralize and eventually capture it.

  • Flamethrowers's 气流爆破 图标气流爆破 can be used to knock back enemies.

  • Bomb Kit's 磁力炸弹 图标磁力炸弹 pulls enemies to the bomb's location when it goes off. To pull enemies off the node, you have to leave the capture point yourself. This is ONLY beneficial when you're still trying to neutralize a node, as 1 second off node hurts the defender more than it does the player trying to take the node. On a neutral capture point it's better to just go to the edge of node, place the bomb there, and once they've been pulled by the bomb use a knockback skill to push the enemy player as far off the node as possible.

  • With good timing, 共生护盾 图标共生护盾 (toolbelt of your heal) can be used to reflect projectiles that cause knockback, like 近身平射 图标近身平射 or 疾风爆发 图标疾风爆发.
