Amalgam - Power Amalgam open world

Trait variants

• 追踪火箭 - use it when playing rifle for higher damage.

Power amalgam build for open world. By melding with their mercurial mold, amalgams replace their toolbelt skills with Protocols to create new weapons and armors with which to fight their enemies. Amalgams are quite resilient thanks to these Protocols, most notably 进攻协议：毁坏 which turns outgoing damage into healing, but they lack boon generation and ranged damage.

Ascended gear is not required.

If you are gearing this character from zero, start with exotic quality gear. Search the trading post for "Nika" armor. Then search for the weapons you want to use: "Ironfist" hammer, "Exterminator" rifle. Upgrade to ascended gear as you progress. See also: Guide

• You can consider using 萨奇洛斯古物 to trade a minor amount of damage for sustain.
• For defense, equip the highest tier Jade Core you can afford.

Heal skill

We recommend 分裂状态 for its very large healing, although it heals slowly over 5 seconds. It also converts 2 conditions into boons thanks to 不锈金属. Other options can be considered:

• 治疗炮台 high healing, and cleanses 2 conditions when first deployed while creating a water field where you can detonate the turret to provide even more healing (See: Guide
  are Combo Fields). Always pick up the turret or detonate it, as it will provide more healing over time than the super weak regeneration that leaving the turret deployed provides.
• 医疗包 provides defensive boons, condition cleanse a water field with, and good healing with the toolbelt skill 自我包扎.
• 自动除颤 - helpful to negate a big attack or a oneshot, but poor healing if it doesn't, and has a helpful 2 second stun on the toolbelt skill 静电冲击.

Utility skills

We default to: 投掷地雷 has great damage and crowd control, never replace it. 炸弹包 requires a bit of skill to use to be constantly switching in and out of it, but provides good damage. Can be replaced if you hate Engineering Kits. 原浆状态 - good for burst damage. Can be replaced. Other options can be considered:

• 气体状态 is a great stunbreak that also increases your movement speed and reduces the damage of incoming attacks by 50% for its duration
• 固体状态 - good crowd control.
• U型试剂 - 急速 and stunbreak.
• 火箭飞靴 - if you need extra mobility.
• C型试剂 - massive condition removal and heals per existing boon.

Elite skill

流体状态 offers great damage and crowd control. Never replace it.

Evolve

The amalgam's profession mechanic is their mercurial mold. This ooze morphs into different weapons or armors, giving the amalgam new skills that replace their engineer toolbelt mechanic. This build default to 进攻协议：毁坏, 进攻协议：抹除, and 防护协议：荆棘 for a good mix of damage, sustain, and defense. By using the trait 白银内衬, these protocols also activate their Strain buffs when used, while turning 进化 into a skill to reset the cooldown of your protocols and increase your attributes for a short duration.

Damage

• Spam 电子回旋, 投掷地雷, and 雷霆一击.
  • If using rifle, spam 霰弹射击 (preferably in melee range), 捕网射击 and 跳跃射击. You can save 过载射击 for CC or to cleanse yourself of movement-impeding conditions, or otherwise spammed for damage.
• Use 进攻协议：毁坏 to convert damage you do into healing. It also gives 稳固.
• Use 进攻协议：抹除 for damage.
• Use 防护协议：荆棘 for damage or save it for stunbreak.
• Casting 进化 resets the cooldown of all your protocols.
  • A combo of 进攻协议：毁坏 + 进化 + 进攻协议：毁坏 makes you nigh immortal for 16 seconds by converting outgoing damage into healing.
• Stay close to your target to benefit from 粗略瞄准 and 优质枪械.

Defense

• The best defense is always to dodge or sidestep attacks.
• 进攻协议：毁坏 provides excellent healing by doing damage.
• Your Stance utility skills and 进化 turn your conditions into boons thanks to 不锈金属.
• You can block attacks with 电击护盾.
• You have minor healing over time from 超然爆发 and some barrier from 混合活力.
• If your enemy gives itself boons, save 投掷地雷 to remove up to 3 of them.

Crowd control

If you don't have access to Weaponmaster Training with Secrets of the Obscure, you will not be able to wield a hammer. Use Rifle instead.

• Rifle for players without Weaponmaster Training or who prefer a ranged playstyle. Good ranged damage though it performs best in melee range due to 霰弹射击.

Budget consumables are acceptable for use in open world.
